Mark down this fashion phenomena as yet another thing I simply do not understand regarding the female crowd. With Winter looming over the horizon and cold weather beginning to move in, campus has turned into a daily fashion show of UGG boots.

I cannot honestly explain exactly why I have such strong negative feelings against these shoes. I'm sure they're warm and comfy and all of those sensible reasons, but these are colleges girls and we all know they're willing to sacrifice individualism and their parent's money to shop where the girl next door shops and wear what she wears. These things aren't outright ugly - they are no Crocs after-all, but I think its a combination of things which arouses and outright hatred from me.

The sheer volume of UGG boots appearing on any two-legged, breasted mammal on campus is staggering. I can safely say I can walk through campus and see no less than 75% of the girls wearing these boots - 40 to 50% of which are the same style and color. Not to mention that these things appear practically over night, as if some Appointed Head Sister has officially announced the beginning of UGG boot weather, with a complete guide to winter weather uniform fitting. I mean, you're just not a college gal if you don't have ugg boots, leggings, and a black Northface fleece on.

I can potentially say I could tolerate these things if they remained inside for the rest of the year, but occassionally a pair will slip out of the closet in Spring or Summer on a girl wearing a tank top and a skirt - walking paradox much?

Winter fashion isn't all bad - you gotta love those skin-tight leggings

Man, I feel you on this one. I teach at a major university, and I see hundreds of chicks a day in those damn things, and what makes it worse is that they wear them with '80s tights. I just wonder what's going on upstairs, lol.
